School Site Council

What is School Site Council?

School Site Council is a group of teachers, parents, administrators, and interested community members who work together to develop and monitor a school's improvement plan. It is a legally required decision making body for any school receiving federal funds.

Purpose of a School Site Council:

  • Assist in developing and approving  the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA)
  • Have ongoing responsibilities to review  the progress of the SPSA Plan

Duties and Responsibilities of a Council Member:

  • Members shall serve for two-years on the council
  • Members must attend meetings held four times a year, or as needed
  • Members will provide leadership on subcommittees, as needed
