Welcome to Sandpiper PTA

A warm welcome to our returning and new families at Sandpiper School.

The PTA at Sandpiper is very active and exclusively volunteer led. We are a wonderful mix of individuals, families, cultures and heritages. We come together as new and veteran Sandpiper families to combine ideas, skills and resources to give our children the very best school experience available. Your family matters to us, and our PTA aims to help your child's school experience be a joyful and meaningful one.

We organize and support class holiday parties, field trips, after school and breakfast socials, a family harvest dinner dance, an in-class art program called Art in Action, music and science lessons, environmental learning through our Green Team, a Multicultural project, a Science fair, a Discovery day, many diverse holiday celebrations, a book fair and book swap, a district fundraising program called Reading Power and for older children complimentary Enrichment Programs that include computer club, robotics, chess club, gardening, mock trial and a dance club. We do all of this as volunteers working with donations.

To keep updated with all the PTA activity please sign up for eNews, our PTA newsletter. You can find back copies of eNews here.

Be sure to sign up for Sandpiper FB/Twitter/Instagram.

We hope that you will be encouraged to offer your skills and support to our PTA.

We look forward to meeting you!

Character Traits

Practicing the Pillars

During the year we cover the Pillars of Character, this year we are also talking about the Habits of Mind:                                                             The Habits of Mind are an identified set of 16 problem solving, life related skills, necessary to effectively operate in society and promote strategic reasoning, insightfulness, perseverance, creativity and craftsmanship. The understanding and application of these 16 Habits of Mind serve to  provide the individual with skills to work through real life situations that equip that person to respond using awareness (cues), thought, and intentional strategy in order to gain a positive outcome.

Ask your child about how they are demonstrating these traits!

Sandpiper Droids & Rainforest Panthers collaborate to win the Sacred Heart Vex IQ Tournament

Congratulations to Allen, Cheery, Arie, Ethan, Ryan, Julian, Jason from the Sandpiper Droids for teaming up with Joey (also a Sandpiper student), Martin, Arush, Akshita and Satoru from the Rainforest Panthers for winning the Sacred Heart Tournament. The two teams rose to the top of the Team Challenge event by scoring 55 points. They needed to beat the established score of 54 to win. As you can see by the video above it took every second of collaboration to balance on the bridge at the end. Balancing on the bridge is worth 25 points. Amazing job by these two teams!
